EAGLE SCOUT CANDIDATE  JEFF COX HAS GARNERED NATIONAL ATTENTION IN HIS WORK TO BRING  A 9/11 MEMORIAL TO THE TOWN OF WINDERMERE.  THE MEMORIAL WILL HAVE A LARGE BEAM TAKEN FROM THE  WORLD TRADE CENTER SITE SURROUNDED BE A MEMORIAL GARDEN
Eagle Scout Candidate Jeff Cox views the twisted beam from the wreckage of the World Trade Center. UPS shipped the piece free of charge from New York to Florida in November.
On January 4th, 2010 excavation was completed at the site of the memorial behind Windermere's Town Hall.
Concrete is poured on January 5th, 2010.
The concrete foundation for the 9/11 memorial is now in place as of January 6th, 2010.
On January 27th, the cradle that will hold the twisted beam from the World Trade Center was bolted onto the concrete foundation.
On February 2nd through the 4th pavers were installed at the 9/11 Memorial site. On February 6th three teams of Boy Scouts gathered to plant the Memorial Garden. Tony Esposito of Esposito's Landscaping Services in Brevard County provided plants and expertise. Eagle Scout candidate Jeff Cox (center in green and black) works with his fellow Scouts to complete the day's planting.
With two weeks to go, the landscaping is in and the pavers installed, as of February 6th, 2010.
The landscaping is in along with the pavers, and now Mr. Sterling Folk begins the painstaking process of installing the black granite pieces, one piece at a time. He will hand drill into the concrete and insure that each rounded piece of granite is mounted just as he drew it out in the plans over half a year ago.
