NEW PIER COMPLETED IN PARK

NEW PIER IN PARK COMPLETED Windermere recently completed a new addition to its park system with the completion of the Lake Street Park Pier. Stretching over 100 feet into Lake Down at the eastern end of Fourth Avenue, it provides a beautiful view and a tranquil setting. At the entrance to the pier there are benches and tables where one can sit and absorb the lake and all of its surrounding nature. This pier is the culmination of a multi-year effort by the Parks and Recreation Committee and its Chairperson Tracy Mitchell to expand the town’s park shorelines of both Lake Bessie and Lake Down with added park equipment, piers and pathways. This project was completed with financial assistance by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection through the Florida Recreation Development and Assistance Program.
