WINDERMERE MAYOR GARY BRUHN IS 1 OF 14 MAYORS IN FLORIDA TO PARACHUTE WITH THE US ARMY GOLDEN KNIGHTS PARACHUTE TEAM
On March 1st, 2010 Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn was one of fourteen Mayors allowed to parachute with the U.S. Army Golden Knights. The Golden Knights are training in Homestead, Florida for a very brief time and the event was held to show support for the US military. Mayor Bruhn is honored to have spent two days with the men and women of the US Army and allowed to jump with the Golden Knights.

Mayor Bruhn was especially humbled to have as his tandem master SFC Mike Elliott, the Golden Knight who was President George Herbert Walker Bush's tandem master in 2007. Mayor Bruhn said.... "I would have been safe in any Golden Knight's care, but to have the tandem master who jumped with President Bush was an honor that I will remember for the rest of my life. And then the Sergeant Major
also jumped with me. He gave me a coin that he had jumped with and I took that coin and put in my pocket. It now has two jumps!"

Suited up and ready to go.
The plane is ready.
Packing the chutes... my life is in their hands.
Jumping out at 14,000 feet. That's almost 3 miles !
Falling at 120 miles per hour..... it takes 30 seconds to fall almost two miles!
Back on the ground, Mayor Bruhn thanks SFC Mike Elliott for the experience of a lifetime.
Mayor Bruhn's tandem master, SFC Mike Elliott is shown here with President George Herbert Walker Bush in a tandem jump from 2007. SFC Elliott jumped with a President. I knew I was in good hands.   :)
